Case study of a non-profit website looking to redesign their site to be responsive, restyled and engage new users.
Role: UX/UI/Visual Designer
Duration: 10 weeks in 2017/2018
Redesigned and styled an existing website to be a responsive site and rebrand to expand audience of potential volunteers and money donations. Website is a non-profit that raises funds that benefits a California county parks organization that has a mission goal to promote usage of county parks and open spaces for recreational activities, arts, and cultural enrichment events that benefit ALL generations in a diverse community.
My Approach
I assessed the site to discover what type of personas were needed to improve volunteering, donating funds to a non-profit, and businesses looking to donate funds via special events that benefit the county parks.
My objective was to create new tasks on the new website to promote online donations/volunteering.
Share past/current achievements and solicit future achievements, such as field trips and special events for different populations; such as youth, artists, and seniors.
My Recommendations
- Design CTA buttons for Donate and Volunteer
- Brand site with new Style Guide via CSS3
- Bring up-to-date website-related UI Patterns
- Create Style and Pattern Libraries for future webmaster maintenance
Iterations:
- Created Persona Types that depicted volunteers, donors, and businesses interested in this type of non-profit

- Age: 35
- Occupation: Computer Engineer
